Quality Vibes, Live Music & Financial Feminism

IMG_6648.jpg

Thanks very much for swinging by and being inquisitive! My name is Winter and I curate events and projects that promote quality vibes, live music and financial feminism. Why? Because they help us (individually and collectively) be more authentic, resilient and resistant to oppression / exploitation.

If this resonates, please take a moment to sign up for the occasional Quality Vibes Blasts I send out. Also, if you’re near Oakland, CA, be sure to check out the upcoming events tab. If you don’t see something that floats your boat, keep an eye out for other joy-based activities that do. Don’t let these trying times steal your smile!

What am I up to?

Bay Area Green Tours

Community Service

My journey in community service began in1985 and resulted in my accumlation of 38+ years of experience learning how challenging it is to facilitate change much less make a difference.

2024 projects include:

Consulting

I offer consulting ($35-$70/hour sliding scale) services to mission-driven organizations and mindful individuals planning feel-good projects and/or gatherings that accomplish each collaborator’s objectives in a sustainable manner. I’m also available to consult specifically on financial feminism, as well as to draft resources, compose articles and /or speak publicly.

Event Production

As a contracted event organizer, I specialize in coordinating entertainment, vendor participation, community engagement, sponsorship development, branding, promotion, strategic growth, equipment rentals, staffing and more.

We are also available to staff events ($18-50/hour) or assist with production (e.g. pick up supplies, distribute posters and postcards and organize storage). We working individually and / or as a team.

2024 projects include:

  • Organizing the following community events for Montclair Village Association:

    • Restaurant Walk (April 23rd)

    • Beer, Wine & Music Festival (June 15th)

    • Halloween Fun (October 27th)

    • Holiday Stroll (December 12th)

  • Hosting 3 concerts at the Ivy Room.

  • Continuing to freelance as a stage manager or production assistance at sustainably operated live music festivals in and outside the Bay Area.

  • Expanding my network of skilled independent contractors (e.g. sound engineering, lighting, graphic design, photography and varied production roles) who are kind and collaborate well.

House Concerts

I’ve been hosting house concerts since hearing about Concerts In Your Home in 2015. It was a tremendous help at first but then I got the hang of it and took off on my own so I could host a wider variety of genres and artists.

100% of funds raised go to the performing artists unless I’ve needed to hire a sound engineer or event assistant. All house concert gatherings are casual and potluck. When needed, and I’m able, I offer lodging to touring performers.

2024 projects include:

Financial Feminism

Be it how we earn, bank, borrow, invest, spend or share, our choices impact economic ecosystems and power paradigms that traditionally perpetuate exploitation and oppression. Waking up to this reality and financially figuring out how to live in a manner that better aligns with our values is a rocky unmarked road. In my case embracing a concept like financial feminism is helping to guide me personally and professionally.

2024 projects include:

  • Owning / operating a small doggy daycare and boarding business called Family Dog Walkers with my wonderful team of helpers.

  • Completing The Next Economy MBA program led by LIFT Economy and actively engaging with their community through Hylo.

  • Building out a resource page on this site and inviting contributors to recommend resources they’ve found financially empowering.

  • Recruiting moderators to help re-launch the Financial Feminists groups I started on Facebook and MeetUp during the beginning of the Pandemic.
